Welcome to the IGN GTA 5 Walkthrough. This Story Mission guide will take you from the opening Prologue to the final credits.

'Prologue' is the first mission you play after installing GTA V (or re-starting a new game). For the first mission, you're put straight into a bank heist. With previous installments, you're normally required to drive to a safehouse or take someone somewhere, however GTA V doesn't wait to put you into the action... you start with it.
Nine years ago, North Yankton, Michael Townley, Trevor Philips and Brad take part in a bank robbery gone bad. Intimidate the bankers into getting in the back room by shouldering your weapon and pointing at them.
Whilst you're doing that, Trevor sets the charges on the vault door. Once he's back, use your phone’s remote function to detonate the charges.
Follow Trevor into the vault and collect the cash on the ground and in the back right corner. As you exit the vault a cut scene appears. The guard you saw just moments ago, now has a gun pointed at Michael's head. He pulls of Michael's mask revealing his face for the first time in-game. The game then prompts you to switch to Trevor. To do so, press down on the D-Pad and use the right stick to navigate to him, then let go. You'll fluently switch to Trevor who now has to take careful aim and shoot the guard to free Michael.
Take cover at the edge of the garage door and pick off the cops running towards you in the distance. Gradually advance from pillar to pillar, hugging cover. Cops will try to flank you on your left so watch out.
Now, move up to the campers, sticking to cover for as long as you can.
Then step forward, running and gunning at the same time, (by not aiming with LT and only holding down the RT) go down the hill.
Reach the getaway car and hop in.
Be gentle on the wheel, and stay in the right lane to avoid an unfortunate collision with oncoming police or traffic. Stay on the road and don’t attempt any cross-country shortcuts or the mission will end.
Beat the train, and after the car crash cut scene, take cover and defend your fallen comrade until the mission ends.
